Origin Story

El Triunfo, Chiapas, Mexico

Cafe Sierra Azul was founded in 2010 by 37 young producers in the municipality of Siltepec, in southeastern Chiapas. These founding members were children of coffee farmers who wanted to build sustainable livelihoods without resorting to immigration. Today the cooperative has grown to roughly 300 smallholder farmers, all working within the protected El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve. The organization provides access to better markets, financing, technical assistance, and social projects, serving as an instrument of development for small producers in one of the most biodiverse regions in Mexico.
